These days home theatre is bigger than ever. Years ago is started with laser disc, DVD made it mainstream, and now with Blu-ray and cheap high definition TVs, the home theatre experience is truly available to anyone.

These days, a good home theatre system can easily equal the quality of any local cineplex, and except for the screen size, it’s easy to exceed it!

But if you are thinking of dipping your toes into home theatre for the first time, you may be a bit daunted. It doesn’t help that most sales people don’t know, or don’t care about what they are talking about, as long as they get the sale. Unless you know someone who is already into home theatre, you may find yourself lost for good advice. Luckily, it really not hard at all.

First, here’s what you should not buy under any circumstances: A home theatre in a box.

My reason is a little different from most. In general they have a reputation for poor sound quality, due to the cheap speakers. In reality, some of them are actually not all that bad, if used in a small room. The real problem is build quality, I have seen so many of these broken very early if their lifecycle its not even funny. My advice is just don’t bother.

What you should do it purchase a decent receiver and speakers separately. It need not be the most expensive receiver in the store. In fact, for most casual users, the difference between a cheap receiver and an expensive one probably won’t be obvious. Just be sure that it has HDMI, and support for the latest sound formats, such as Dolby Digital HD, as these are used on current Blu-ray discs. Some good receiver brands are Denon, Pioneer, and Harmon Kardon.

The speakers are the most important feature of you home theatre, and what will contribute most to duplicating the theatre experience at home, not the TV! That being the case, do not cheap out, buy the best speakers you can afford. There are many fantastic, inexpensive speaker brands on the market. I am partial to Infinity, but take a look as Paradigm, Energy, and Klipsch, to name a few.

I suggest buying bookshelf speakers for home theatre and avoiding the fancier designs. This will allow your system to double as a stereo more seamlessly. A home theater has a minimum of 6 speakers to mains, a center channel (for dialog), two surrounds, and a subwoofer. Many modern formats use up to 8 speakers (adding a left and right rear speaker, and addition to the standard two surround speakers.) In my personal opinion, the difference of adding the two extra speakers is extremely subtle, and really only noticeable in a very large room. I recommend you save some money here, or put it towards your other speakers.

Make sure you don’t cheap out on the subwoofer, a good place to get an amazing sub for your money is SVS Subwoofers.

Now hook it all up to your TV and blast the floorboards away.

The Limelight is about living life creatively and finding inspiration to do so. It is not restricted to any one narrow focus, and so you will find articles here on topics ranging from money to food to photography, and anything else that contributes to living an inspired, creative life.

Jonathan Timar is a naturally creative person. Creativity is his life’s blood. He’s an actor and filmmaker, a writer and a photographer. He is also a graduate of broadcasting school. He is and avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction. His favourite novel of all time is Tai-Pan by James Clavell followed closely by Shogun, also by James Clavell.

Any custom home theatre system requires different equipment, like a high end video projector, high end DVD player, separate amplifiers for each channel controlled by a master preamp or controller, in-wall speakers, and a couple of subwoofers. These custom installations of home theatres are not too expensive and are quite affordable. A very simple home theatre system can be something as simple as a 27-inch TV, a basic DVD player and Hi-If VCR, cheap stereo or AV receiver, and of course speakers.

But the concept of a home theatre has changed. It has become essential to watch the latest world DVD releases. There where the region fee home theatre comes in, which allows you to play DVD discs on the DVD players from any country, whether they are of PAL or NTSC standard. The Region fee home theatres are exceptional in the sense that they can play any video format on your screen. In case you are interested in far more features, then you have the choice to go for some of the latest models which can play any format on any kind of television. Like for instance, you can play your American Region 2 PAL discs on your European NTSC TV and that too without a video converter!

The man difference between a simple home theatre and a region fee home theatre is just that, the latter consists of a region free DVD player which allows you to watch movies in all formats.

Movies are released on DVD at different times around the world, typically America and Europe first, Australia and Japan 6 months later, and Asia about 12 months after the first release. In some cases, DVD movies are available for purchase in Asia or Europe before they are released in American picture halls. Therefore, the film fraternity, in order to save their profit, devised this encoding technique. This regional coding is a type of digital flag made on the disc that tells the DVD player where a particular DVD comes from. This is supposed to prevent the disc from being used by an incompatible player in another country. Like for example, a region where NTSC format is being used as standard, you will not be able to watch movies on your basic home theatre, which uses PAL standard. It’s another matter, if you possess a region fee home theatre. You can enjoy all the overseas movies in any formats on your region fee home theatres.
As regards media, the world is divided into six regions. These Region fee home theatres successfully play the movies from al these six regions without any hassle. The six different regions are USA, Europe, Asia Pacific, Australia and Latin America, Africa and Russia and the last is China Region.

A region fee home theatre has a multi format television that does not need an exterior PAL or NTSC converter along with it. A full surround sound system also accompanies a region fee home theatre system. Such a system consists of 4 Hi-Fi speakers for left & right surround, which include one rear wireless speaker, and a powerful subwoofer. A total of 500 watts power is sent to the to the system’s speakers which is composed of two large frontals, a center channel, and two surround speakers. It also features Dolby Digital and DTS surround decoding.

Since a region fee home theatre is more advanced, with the customer spending quite a good bit of amount, it is better to find out what is the best available in the market. For this, the equipment specifications have to be looked into and understood for a final choice. While picture clarity is one of the main factors, there are advantages in investing in a robust sound system for its ability to play loud as it maintains the dexterity of music and aggressive movie sound tracks. The overdriving of the circuitry by an ordinary sound system, damages the onboard electronics, which is minimised with a robust system.

With regards to the picture quality, a region fee home theatre surpasses all others. The goal of any playback device would be the reproduction of the original content with clarity. A region fee home theatre utilises advanced progressive scan1 playback techniques and a high grade MPEG video decoders that faithfully represent the image you see at your favorite movie theatre.

The fact is that the purpose of region fee home theatre is expected to provide you with a comfortable entertainment alternative to that of the movie hall, watching that favourite movie in your own time. A home theatre system is far better than just watching a plain-old TV by itself. By having access to a far a better image quality and sound technology of the movie theatre, which allows any region movies to be played, watching a movie in your own entertainment room comfort, you get to enjoy the theatre experience much more.

A region fee home theatre is something that can be customised to your personal needs very easily. There is not one type of a home theatre system. The equipment is available with all different options, which may be the choices for different buyers. It may be possible that you are ready to save on your sound system but cannot compromise on getting the advantage of region free systems! After all, it is your home theatre.

While there are many different things that go into building the perfect home theatre system, and many different ways of putting one together, all of them have one thing in common: amazing speakers that can the room in a rock song, or catch that creaking door in the horror movie you’re watching via surround sound. Whether you’re looking at a quality TV or an actual projection screen theatre, any and every model requires good speakers to carry the sound.

There are many different types of speaker systems that you can use in a home theatre. One of the most important things to know is that the higher the watt and ohm of the speaker, the greater the sound you get. The quality of volume and how much you can push the envelope is limited only by the patience of the neighbor most likely to call the cops.

There are so many types of speaker systems that literally hundreds of articles could be written on the subject. While well recognized brand names can put out great speakers and speaker systems, pay attention to the less well known brands, as well, because some of those speakers may be just as good, and several hundred dollars cheaper.

When choosing out speaker systems, don’t forget the surround sound! One of the best effects of a home theatre speaker system is when the surround sound is perfectly attended to. This brings a dimension to movies most people have never experienced . . . since even many people with a home theatre system don’t have the surround sound set up appropriately.

When you are deciding on what theatre speakers to buy, keep the arrangement details in mind. The basic common home theater set up is a screen at one end of the room, one central speaker, one speaker flanking each side of the screen, two speakers providing surround sound on the left and right, and sometimes a speaker adding surround sound from the rear (absolutely great for either war or horror movies).

If you decide to arrange your room this way, chances are good that you will have excellent sound added to your home theatre system, and this makes speaker placement relatively simple if you are in a large room without much confusion. In the ideal situation, the front speakers are the same height from the ground, usually either slightly above or slightly below the display, and the surround speakers should be at least one and a half feet above the heads of the viewers. A lot of people mess this detail up.

The decision on home theatre speakers is an important one, especially if you want to be oriented towards movie watching. A DVD of a movie such as Braveheart is amazing when you can hear each individual bow string twang, and the sound of arrows displacing air. When the surround sound is on at full blast all over the room, that’s an experience you don’t soon forget, and neither will your all your friends gushing about your system to everyone they know!

http://www.hometheatrefun.com brings you the latest on the home theatre. Home theatre’s are very popular, and we want to bring you the most up to date information online! Be sure to check out our latest information page on home theatre speakers.
